24th Annual Reiki Day With The Reiki Association Western Australia

24th Annual Reiki Day With The Reiki Association WA

Today I attended the 24thannual Reiki day with the Reiki Association WA. Approximately 40-50 Reiki practitioners were in attendance. It was a wonderful experience and I left feeling deeply moved and touched.

The day started with Roger (my Reiki Master) opening of the circle and inviting us all to tune into Reiki and allow ourselves to get in to a calm and balanced state.

Buddhist Meditation On Death

We were then introduced to the Tibetan Buddhist nine-point meditation on death. It consists of three root truths about death; each root has three points (reasons) and then a conclusion.

Root 1: Death is certain

Point 1: No one has ever escaped death.

Point 2: I am constantly getting closer to death.

Point 3: There is not much time to practice and teach spirituality (Dharma).

Conclusion: I must practice and teach spirituality (Dharma).

Root 2: The time of death is uncertain.

Point 1: Humans’ life spans are not fixed.

Point 2: More conditions endanger life than support it.

Point 3: The human body is extremely fragile.

Conclusion: I must practice and teach spirituality now (Dharma).

Root 3: Nothing can help at the time of death except my Dharma practice.

Point 1: Wealth can’t stop death from occurring.

Point 2: Friends and relatives can’t stop death from occurring.

Point 3: Our body cannot help us when we are dying.

Conclusion: I must practice and teach spirituality purely (Dharma).

This meditation can be rather confronting for some people but the best way to use it is to focus on aspects that resonate with you.

Having lost a loved one a few years ago, I felt at peace listening to the meditation, mainly because I have done a lot of searching for answers over the years. As this nine point meditation states; death is inevitable for all of us, however, it is the way we condition ourselves spiritually today that will help us at the time we are faced with it.

Reiki Treatments On Each Other

As Reiki practitioners, it is important to have regular treatments ourselves, however, I know this can be tricky at times, especially with the busy lives we all lead. So, today was a great treat being able to receive Reiki as well as give it to fellow practitioners.

We worked in groups of four. One person was on the massage table and the other three practitioners were positioned at various parts of the client giving Reiki. It was a deeply relaxing and tranquil experience.

During lunch I got to know some other Reiki practitioners and we shared stories about our journeys on the path of Reiki. I always love to hear what others have to share about their own personal experiences.

We all go through ups and downs. The more we listen to others, the more we begin to realize that life can be cruel, but we learn, make mistakes, grow and become the people we are today.

Gong Therapy Session

This was my very first experience of a Gong Meditation therapy session and I was intrigued by what was ahead of me.

A man named Paul introduced the practice and asked us all to get comfortable and relax. He explained that the sounds would be loud and then lower in volume during the session.

Over the next hour I felt as though I had been taken on a journey listening to beautiful and serene sounds of the gongs.

At the end of the session, Paul welcomed questions from the group. One person asked how the gongs worked as a form of meditation. Paul explained that each gong is tuned at a different frequency and therefore has an affect on the human nervous system, not just via the ears but also with its vibration through the skin and body.

I found the gong meditation very calming and would definitely be trying it again soon!

Closing The Healing Circle

The day came to an end by Roger closing the healing circle. We were all once again invited to let Reiki in, make the connection, relax and focus on closing the day with the symbols.

All in all, it was a wonderful experience to be surrounded by felloe Reiki practitioners and sharing our energy and learning together.

In a day and age where a lot of our interactions take place via technology, it is great to actually get out there in person and connect with people face to face.

I went alone today. I have always struggled with going to events alone out of fear of not knowing what to say to strangers. However, I am finding that the more I give myself Reiki and mediate on a daily basis, it has opened me up to do things I had once avoided.

Life is short and it is getting shorter every day. So, as soon as it feels right for you, start you spiritual teachings and practice. We all have so much to learn from one another and from ourselves. Lets keep opening our hearts and minds to new possibilities.
